“After a very long time was spent researching the now extinct Eiseiorei race for my last report, I became intrigued by their belief in a set of beings called the Nezzerthal. I have spent a long time of research on these almost-Nin class beings. They interest me. They have powers over one specific element that governs Rikon powers. In fact, one is said to rule over the lands of Yusan-e!
“At first the idea seemed completely ludicrous. Immortal spirits that manifest themselves in physical forms? How preposterous. Yet the idea nagged at the back of my head, and as I looked into the matter to ease my curiosity, they didn’t seem as surreal as they sounded in Eiseioreian lore.
“I’ve spent nigh on a year looking into these Nezzerthal, and have compiled another essay on my findings. This makes my fifth one. Their names were used as the bases of their elements in the all-but-unheard of language Cercain. However, the only difference between their names and the Cercain words is that the Nezzerthal have the Cercain suffix “-cada” added to the end of their names, to make sure that the others would know that they were referring to the Nezzerthal, not the element itself.
“The most interesting feature of the Nezzerthal is that their appearance alters to fit the element that they control. Such as the one of water is said to be comprised purely of water. The one of earth is said to be a female. Perhaps this is where the idea of a “Mother Earth” stems from. Her hair is entangled with all the plant life, excepting the trees, of Rikon and green in coloration.
“The remaining Nezzerthal of Rikon have an appearance formed in such a fashion. However, as I continued with my research, the most exciting notion came to my attention. Also the most preposterous, but the most exciting idea that the Eiseiorei taught. They said that the Nezzerthal were capable of becoming a parasite and allowing an Eiseiorei or a Migan to host them. They said they had to do this to survive, otherwise they would die and that element would forever leave Rikon.
“The Eiseiorei and Migan firmly believed in the existence of the Nezzerthal. They said that when something destroyed the form of a Nezzerthal, that element would become minimal in the world until they formed another body. This is how they explained the bouts of droughts in Ietei and other things that happened that the Migan’s scientific knowledge could not explain. Of course the idea is ridiculous, but an interesting notion.”
