Eiseiorei- Elemental Watchers

from Races through the Ages by Somart Ginevia (A book found in high-ranking schools or royal academies.)

“The Eiseiorei was a powerful race. They were the original inhabitants of this world, long before the human race walked the lands of Rikon along with the Migan. They gave our fair world the shroud of elemental energies that it has even to today. Their dialect, Cercain, has certainly been lost forever. The only use of Cercain that survives in this day and age is in the techniques that they have taught the Sarcasians. Named Cercain Magic, the Eiseiorei invented it to help those races without the blessing of a monosoride core to use element based attacks.

“They were also infinitely wise. They knew the tides of the season, who to predict the weather based on observations as rudimentary as the direction of the wind and the smell it brought. They helped the Aiga lift their floating islands into the sky with powerful spells of wind aided by their Aigan’s advanced technology.

“The Eiseiorei were capable of such feats as crafting weapons that never break. They made blades that never dulled. Staves that enhanced the wielder’s ability to use elemental techniques. Pendants that were finely crafted from an array crystal that never chipped.

“They ruled over Ietei with their cousin race, the Migan, in a turn taking monarchy. It was unprecedented and the reasons for its success were never clearly understood. However, it did succeed, and the government of Ietei lasted for perhaps a million years. Diplomats from Ietei would scour the land and enlighten the other people of Rikon with unyielding compassion, wisdom, and patience. In their native tongue the word Eiseiorei meant “towatch”. It suited them well for they were content to watch the world and their lands with peace.

“It remains a mystery yet as to why they have disappeared. Ancient folklore of the Eiseiorei claims that the Migan started a war with the Eiseiorei and wiped the race out. Then the Elemental Spirits that the Eiseiorei say roam Rikon destroyed the Migan, for the Eiseiorei were the favorites of the spirits. But such folklore should not be believed. However, both the Migan and the Eiseiorei did disappear at the same time. But there is no evidence of the war the legends claim to have existed.

“It is hard to believe that a race so peaceful and dignified as the Eiseiorei would participate in a war. They avoided it at all times during their reign of Ietei.

“Ancient texts describe the Eiseiorei with precision. They were elegant beings, generally tall in stature. Their bodies were designed with grace and elegance in mind, they were always slender and in the best of physical condition. Their eyes were said to look like the element their Monosoride Core favored when angered. Their pointed ears were covered inside in out in fur. The base of the ear would be a bloody crimson while the tip was orange and the inside would be a soft pale yellow. A child of the Eiseiorei, one that appears less then ten, would have a deep blue star marking their temple. An Eiseiorei from ten to twenty four in appearance would gain a second one aimed diagonally downward into the face. After twenty four they would develop a third star vertically above the second.”
